Matt Smith-Wood
Matt gained public profile as a finalist on series 5 of the flagship BBC show, Interior Design Masters presented by interiors guru Michelle Ogundehin & Alan Carr, judged by a raft of high profile interior designers from Kelly Hoppen to Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen to Matthew Williamson. The series received an average of 3.1m viewers, with the final watched by 3.8m.
He launched his interior design practice immediately afterwards, working on residential & commercial projects ranging from offices to a premium dental practice & private homes to The Standard Residences, private apartments adjoining the iconic Lisbon hotel.
Inspired by his father, an antique restorer, Matt’s passion for vintage objects & interior design began at a young age. After studying Interior Architecture & Design at Coventry University & UIC Barcelona, he honed his design skills as a kitchen and bathroom designer, with meaningful design at the core of each of his projects. Natural materials, Japanese furniture, Brutalist architecture & modern art are all cited as influences in his designs. His distinctive sophisticated & contemporary style aims to be fully immersive, from the use of tactile materials to carefully curated scents. Matt creates spaces that prioritise meaningful design, seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics.
Matt launched a curation of tiles with Britain’s biggest bathroom retailer Victorian Plumbing in September 2025. He became an ambassador for Natuzzi premium Italian furniture & interiors brand in AW25 and he continues to work with Noel & Marquet wall panelling promoting their innovative textural range.
